Armstrong Swiftlock Laminate Flooring


Armstrong Swiftlock laminate flooring is a top choice from a leader in the industry. These floors are known as 'floating floors.' This means they can be installed right on top of your existing floors without having to be attached with screws or nails. The boards that make up this type of flooring snap together easily without the need for any gluing. This means no mess to clean up and no drying time. You can walk on these floors directly following installation. Wall base trim covers up expansion areas, which are one-fourth of an inch on average.

You can install this type of flooring right over tile, cement or even short pile carpet. This saves you time and effort because you don't have to rip up your existing floor. You can even use Swiftlock flooring in your bathroom, although you will need to use caulk in the expansion area next to the wall. When preparing to install your Swiftlock flooring, the first step is to remove all molding and baseboards. Next, apply a foam underpad to the subfloor. Do not overlap the edges. Secure the underpad with duct tape at the seams.

Next, check to make sure the flooring will easily slide underneath your door jam. If it is too tall, the door jam may need to be cut to size. The flooring may also need to be cut in certain areas. You can use a power saw or a hand saw to cut the flooring. If using a power saw, put the flooring face down while cutting. If using a hand saw, put the flooring face up. This will help you achieve a smoother, more natural cut. You will need to cut the tongue off of the first flooring row. Use one quarter inch spacers to create your expansion space.

Follow the instructions that come with your Armstrong Swiftlock laminate flooring. There are a few finishing touches that can help your new laminate floor look its very best. It may be necessary to use transition moldings, T-moldings and end moldings to create a smooth transition between existing flooring and new flooring. Base moldings can be used along the wall to conceal the expansion space. You will be amazed how natural and beautiful your Armstrong floors are after installation. Today's laminate floors look just like real hardwood but are much easier to install and maintain.
